Clameurs – album release !

Clameurs is the current repertoire played and toured by the orchestra. It will also be the name of our tenth album at the beginning of this year. An album recorded in bits and pieces during the orchestra’s work sessions in very different places, depending on our residencies.

Not a blank page

What’s next? Do we (re)start cycling (zero), or (re)start something? Everything transforms or goes up in smoke, it’ll take the time and tears it takes, we could do without the tears. Elude, elude. Lots of concerts this month are putting a bit of it in our veins. Fresh globules, liveliness, movement that helps us to (re)create (movement), that which is said to be perpetual but which we know little about or prout (sic, we still have to allow ourselves) is not infinite, even if it is great (time). When will we be able (?) to offer you this record that we hope, go figure, but in the coming months. An object without a puck, whose form (1.0) has yet to be found, but which will be our music + a little something extra. Looking forward to it.

Le Studio / la Philharmonie

in “Jazz à la Villette for kids”

participatory workshops at 9h30 et 14h30
concerts at 11h et 16h

In the meantime, let’s meet up again at these September concerts, the repertoire of the moment, arranged in different lengths-colors, according to the fashionable back-to-school cut to be found in these different places, not everyone having the same for sure tastes and colors. In the meantime, in the hubbub of the cave, we’re concocting something new for us/you, music not heard, projects by the handful that will blossom/go out with elegance or fuss… and on your side we wish you: active human/spectators full of desires, a full page not yet blank to fill.

PIC : last shows in Toulouse !

As promised a short while ago, the postman is making a comeback. His leather bag slung over his shoulder and his yellow bicycle. A little cardboard box stuck in the spokes to make a little noise. But it’s not a motorbike engine you hear in the morning fog, it’s a thundering drum roll you can hear as far as the eye can see, so loud you wonder if it’s the lion roaring in his chocolate savannah. But no, the circus today is without the lion. The circus today is Pic. In any case, it’s our very own circus. Under our huge, grandiose big top, with its string of wooden tiers, its black-painted floor, its secret passageways and its canvas with a sophisticated sound because we’re a musical orchestra. It’s Pic at la Grainerie, near Toulouse. Our red little marquee bar, set up not far away as a compadre to warm our butts, and see you underneath the before and after.

It’s December, and already the last of them. It looks like we’ve just started, but that’s just an illusion. Behind us: sixty or so performances, played out, dreamed about, applauded or sweated over. Thousands of spectators everywhere with their eyes wide open. Pleasures both small and enormous. Yes, an enormous thing to perform, but even more to move… and to place (that’s why we’re stopping, come on…).

So here’s a rooster crowing. Pic’s last. A whole team remembering these adventures, how many people? Forty, fifty, sixty? From the making of the steel utensil to the last-minute replacement for the fateful fall. An epic team. Some bought caravans, to huddle together in the hollow of the yellow and red canvas. Others climbed mountains, ugly plastic helmets crushing their blond curls, their muscles tetanised by the climb.

While others, inspired by these raw circus adventures, have invented a strange musical UFO. There are seven of them. A little form! (hmm compared to Pic) Offbeat compositions for a survival manual on an 8m track around a metal tree. Because endings are also new beginnings, Cosmo*phonie, a preview of a creation to be released in June 2025, opens the Place au Chap ball.

Clameurs : film and concerts

Before long, a great little film will be hitting the airwaves, concocted for us from Argentina by our friend Guadalupe Marín Burgin, with her big eyes and fine fairy fingers. It’s the first in a series of what we’ll easily call ‘clips’. These are moving images of some of our recent music, recorded over the course of our rehearsals and travels. We’ll be talking about travelling, about moving, about moving mountains, or moving through them. Let the music and images speak for themselves, in their own language, and let them collide, like the stones on the road, rolling and gathering moss until they are big, green and light (for their size).
We’ll call this series Clameurs, like the repertoire we’re playing these days, and this first opus Zutzuite, which begins deaf and ends bright.
Look, listen and tell us how and how much.
Release of Zutzuite, Clip and Single on 20 September!

Alongside this outing, the launch pad for an artistic form combining our music with the still and moving images of Guadalupe Marín Burgin, Surnatural Orchestra will be in concert on 13 October at Point-Fort, Aubervilliers, a new home for our activities. For us, it’ll be a vernissage, a landing, a cross-fertilisation… And we hope to see many of you there, open to this promising venue. See you there, out of curiosity.

PIC in Prague and other summer news

What are you up to these days ?
In this rather unsettling summer (after all, isn’t it?), we’re taking a sort of holiday together, a holiday to enjoy and share.
This summer, we’ll be playing PIC. In Prague, Czech Republic, at the hot Letní Letná circus festival. Lots of times, please.
And if you’re ever on the road, you’ll come across Nico (tenor sax, vocals) and Anne (dance, lights) on their bikes. Beautiful calves!
Whether these will be the first dates of a fantastic international tour, we don’t know.

What we do know, however, is that we’ll be rehearsing a series of them in the run-up to Christmas, this winter, in Toulouse (La Grainerie, Balma), under our big top, as open as possible. Performances will include Cosmo*phonie, a circus and music show initiated by members of the orchestra, and an almost non-stop forró festival… If, like the birds, you seek warmth when the cold rises, perhaps you’ll be there!

And do you know, after five years spent there building a place with our own hands (Caracol), we left the Echangeur (where a gentleman didn’t want us any more…), and headed for Pantin, where good friends welcomed us with open arms (le Tympan). These things take time and energy ! And so, searching high and low for a welcoming place to set down our trunks, we met up again with the folks from Le Point Fort, in Auvervilliers (inventors of the Villes des Musiques du Monde association), with whom we’re now looking forward to some wonderful artistic collaborations – keep your ears to the ground.

The past few months have also seen the fortuitous beginnings of a collaboration with Guadalupe Marín Burgin, an Argentinian painter and graphic designer. During a few concerts, she projected a series of colorful images onto us, images and sequences full of meaning that made us want to begin a long-term collaboration. Today, it’s a done deal, and this fall we’ll be unveiling a new kind of supernaturally imaged music video, not seen since the early days of mtv (all of which makes our audience so much younger).

An opportunity to salute Caroline Pageaud who, over the last few years, has worked with her brushes and pencils at our side, something she obviously continues to do, and you’d better follow her !
